Top ten tips when planning a trip to Singapore.

"Singapore, a bustling cosmopolitan hub nestled at the crossroads of Asia, is a captivating blend of ancient traditions and modern marvels. "

Join our CEO, Mary McKenna as she shares her Top 10 Tips from her recent trip to Singapore. Known for her insatiable wanderlust and a keen eye for unearthing hidden gems, Mary’s exploration promises to reveal the true essence of this bustling metropolis.

1. Book your flights well in advance so you can avail of the best deals possible, the Travel Suite have excellent air fares in both economy and business class.

2. Singapore is a small island with just over 5 million people, very similar to Ireland, they are incredibly friendly people. The currency is the Singapore Dollar, and the rate can vary but it is approximately 1.45 to the Euro. Change about 50 euro as you will need some small change for tips. The plugs are the same as Ireland so that is incredibly handy. The taxi fare is about $35 and it took me approximately 30 min to get to my centrally located hotel , The Four Seasons.

3. They have strong local laws, chewing gum is prohibited, and littering can result in heavy fines. It is also very hot, it is over 30 degrees at the moment so dress appropriately and many people actual walk around with an umbrella for cover and also in case of heavy rain showers which are common.

4. Use public transportation, they have the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) and trains and buses are very easy and reasonable price to use. I downloaded the app Grab, which is very useful when here.

5 There are so many shopping centres located on Orchard Road, I found it great as you can walk underground and there are miles of shopping, with all the top brands. But a word of warning Singapore is the world’s priciest place to buy clothes. You can receive 6% tax on your return through Singapore airport, but you need your passport and GC details when you are paying at the till.

6. Explore Hawker Centers, which offer a wide range of delicious and affordable local food. These culinary hubs provide an authentic dining experience, so be sure to try the favourite dishes like Chicken rice, and chilli crab.

7. Visit Gardens by the bay, this iconic attractions showcases futuristic super trees and gorgeous indoor gardens. It is a must to see the mesmerising light and sound show in the evening, it is known as the “Garden Rhapsody.” The Cloud Forest and Flower Dome are certainly worth a visit as well. Set at Cloud Forest with its iconic vision of waterfalls, spiralling walkways and a unique architectural glass g

8. Explore the cultural neighbourhoods of Singapore, such as Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam. Each has its own unique charm offering traditional shops, restaurants and vibrant markets.

9. See the stunning skyline of Mariana Bay and enjoy panoramic views from the the observation deck. You can catch the nightly light show at the Marina Bay Sands’ waterfront promenade know as “Spectra.”

10.Take a River Cruise and experience Singapore’s river and waterfront views. It is a great way to see all the landmarks like the Merrion, Esplande, and Clark Quay. This was one of my favourite trips.
