About Your Trip

South Africa Family Safari Adventure

Per Person

This vast country is undoubtedly one of the most culturally and geographically diverse places on earth. Fondly known by locals as the ‘Rainbow Nation’, South Africa has 11 official languages and its multicultural inhabitants are influenced by a fascinating mix of African, Asian and European cultures. Spend your days: discovering the gourmet restaurants, impressive art and nightlife scenes and fine beaches of Cape Town; enjoying a typical local braai (barbecue) in the Soweto township; browsing the bustling Indian markets in Durban; or sampling some of the world’s finest wines at the myriad wine estates dotted around the picturesque Cape Winelands. There are plenty of historical attractions to explore including the Zululand battlefields of KwaZulu-Natal, the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg and Robben Island. Above all else, South Africa’s attraction lies in its remarkably untamed wilderness with its astonishing range of wildlife roaming freely across massive unfenced game reserves such as the world famous Kruger National Park.

DAY 2

Cape Town, South Africa

Set at the confluence of the Indian and Atlantic oceans and backed by the iconic Table Mountain, the bustling city of Cape Town presents an alluring combination of drawcards. Incredible powdery white beaches, highly acclaimed wine routes, and astonishingly beautiful mountain trails surround a cosmopolitan hub. This diverse metropolis is filled with superb shops and restaurants, extraordinary heritage monuments, a multitude of entertainment venues, and a spectacular, chic waterfront harbour. Enjoy Africa’s only Nobu Restaurant, take part in the Nobu Little chefs Masterclass and learn how to make Sushi, followed by dinner at Nobu.

DAY 3

Cape Town, South Africa

Up the mountain you go, the cable car revealing the incredible vistas of the city and ocean the higher you climb. On reaching the top, move away from the crowds, tracking a dassie (local rock rabbit) and breaking for a well-earned hot chocolate and delicious baked-goods. Returning to sea level, hop on your bikes, cycling along the Sea Point Promenade to explore the Atlantic Seaboard, where children lead the exploration with their own interactive maps. Stopping at art installations en-route, listen to the story of Mandela, whilst gazing out towards Robben Island where he spent so many years imprisoned. Staying safe and off road head into Green Point Park for a fun insight into the unique Cape flora and fauna. Once energy levels have been replenished, it’s time to explore the city’s uplifting urban art projects, District Six and interactive sites like the Apartheid Benches which bring to life the history which has shaped the nation. Slowing things down, end the day at the beach and, while parents sip sundowners with their feet in the sand, tired, happy kids burn away the last of their energy.

DAY 4

Cape Town, South Africa

Start by leaving the city behind, stopping at a scenic location, to enjoy a hot chocolate and to listen to a few of the local shark stories. Next, visit the seals at Kalk Bay, exploring this working fishing harbour, perhaps throwing in a fishing line or taking a short stroll through the village. From seals, move on to their cute neighbours, the penguins. Away from the crowds, go in search of rogue penguins, finding them on a local beach.  All penguined-out continue on to the Cape Point, and hunt for the Cape 5 (Ostrich, Baboons, Mountain Zebra, Bontebok and Tortoise) and wander along hiking trails which lead through indigenous fynbos, past hidden coves and rocky beaches. Either head up the funicular, or take a gentle hike to the Cape Point Lighthouse, for an incredible panoramic view over the ocean, and back along the seaboard. On the return journey, stop at a local farm village for homemade ice-cream, and either head to the beach or stop at an old fort look-out for magical views.

The highlights of Cape Town include the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary African Art; Table Mountain’s jaw-dropping views; Boulders Beach, where penguins might swim right up to you in the warm Indian ocean waters; the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, where you can walk along a treetop canopy among incredible native flora or watch an open-air concert at the base of the mountain; Robben Island, where visitors can see the cell where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years; and many more.
