Oslo, Norway
Oslo is the largest city in Norway and has been the official capital of the country since 1814. Oslo is beautifully situated at the bottom of the Oslo Fjord and surrounded by wooded hills. The city is an Eldorado for nature lovers. If you are in the centre, you will never be far from any park.
DAY 2
Oslo, Norway
Breakfast at the hotel.At 10.00: Join the Oslo Panorama tour (3 hours) starting from the City Hall. Discover Oslo’s highlights from a modern coach and with a local guide. Learn about the city’s history and culture, admire the main attractions in the city centre and spectacular views from Holmenkollen Hill and experience a fascinating insight into the art of the most prolific Norwegian sculptor, Gustav Vigeland, as you walk through the unique Sculpture Park comprising more than 200 sculpture in bronze and granite. The tour ends by the City Hall at 13.00.
DAY 3
Flåm, Norway
Breakfast at the hotel. Walk to the train station to start first part of the famous “Norway in a Nutshell excursion”. At 13.27: Depart Myrdal on the famous Flåmsbana train. Flåmsbana, known worldwide as one of the most spectacular train journeys in the world, was chosen as the best train journey in the world by Lonely Planet in 2014. The route on this incredible railway from the top of the mountain to the sea level in Flåm, next to the fjord, presents an altitude difference of almost 900 meters, with a gradient of 5.5% in almost 80% of the journey. One of the twenty tunnels of the Flåm train forms a spiral inside the mountain and the trip offers views that will leave you breathless on several occasions. The beautiful village of Flåm is located just at the inner end of one arm of the deepest fjord and the second in length, Sognefjord, with 204 km in length and 1308m in depth. Surrounded by rugged mountains, roaring waterfalls and narrow valleys, this area is a paradise for those looking for unique and spectacular experiences in nature.
DAY 4
Bergen, Norway
Breakfast at the hotel. At 09.30 board a 2 hours cruise from Flam to Gudvangen where you will experience the great Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord, two of Norway’s most attractive fjords. The Nærøyfjord, a branch of the Sognefjord, has been included in UNESCO’s World Heritage list and is considered to be among the most scenic fjord areas on the planet. Its outstanding natural beauty is derived from its narrow and steep-sided crystalline rock walls that rises up to 1400 m straight from the fjord.
DAY 5
Bergen, Norway
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning meet with your local guide for a 2-hours walking tour. Bergen is unique, not least because of its fantastic location and world-famous surroundings. 7 magnificent mountains and beautiful fjords form the backdrop to an international but at the same time distinctively local atmosphere that makes an indelible impression on everyone who visits the city. Take a tour around the fish market and Bryggen Hanseatic wharf. Bryggen (wharf in Norwegian) consists of 14th century hanseatic buildings. More than 60 buildings of the original wharf are still standing and today this is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and also one of the top sights in Norway. Take the funicular to the top of Mount Floien for panoramic views of Bergen and surroundings. In the afternoon take the Airport Bus to Bergen Airport for your return flight.
