Lorraine Quinn explores the seas on Oceania Vista
I was lucky enough to experience Oceania’s newest ship ‘VISTA’, sailing from Genoa to Monaco, Livornio (Florence/Pisa) and onto Rome – a preinaugural cruise of this amazing ship.
My first impressions of the beautiful ship was the attention to detail was amazing, every area of the ship offered something different from cool Barista coffee bars to an interactive art studio with the renowned artist Andre Allen, his intricate and imaginative glass artwork fills Artist Loft with bold hues and intriguing patterns.
The choice of dining options onboard is truly fantastic – offering diverse, ethically sourced ingredients. Oceania pride themselves on their culinary offering and this is truly the case, here is a list of some of the dining options.
EMBER. TOSCANA. RED GINGER. POLO GRILLE. GRAND DINING ROOM. AQUAMAR. WAVES. BARISTA. THE TERRACE GRILLE
Another area on VISTA that was so impressive was the Aquamar Spa & Vitality Centre – they offer a all of the latest treatments in their SPA, the hidden gem was relaxation area at the back of the ship – with a thalassotherapy pool, whirlpool, loungers, refreshments was such a beautiful chill out zone day or night with beautiful views of the Mediterranean. There is also a gym with a state of art machines with a separate room for Spinning, Yoga, Pilates class which are also all included in the price of your cruise.
We stayed in Stateroom 10114 – Concierge Veranda Stateroom, our room was so luxurious with a nice big balcony, welcome champagne, Esmeralda our state room attendant was so friendly and helpful. It’s always about the quality of the beds onboard and the comfort and plushness of bed did not disappoint. Our TV had a great choice programmes, information about what’s happening onboard, menus, Room service – all really easy to navigate. I, can’t talk about our stateroom without talking about the amazing bathroom -it was huge -all marble, lovely touches and gorgeous amenities from Bvglari.
The other luxury touches in your stateroom are bathrobes, slippers, courtesy umbrella (hopefully you won’t need that !) fresh bottled refilled botted water each day, As part of their sustainability initiatives onboard – you receive a reusable water bottle you can use on/off the ship with water stations around the ship. When cruising with Oceania – there is so much included, they offer complimentary transfers into the local towns during your ports of call. I should also mention how good the Wifi was – able to work and post on social channels.
The crew onboard were all so welcoming, attentive and friendly, there was such a lovey atmosphere onboard.
Our visit to Monaco and Monte Carlo was super, easily accessed from the ship – a lovey walk through the garden of visiting a beautiful sculpture of Princess Grace, the Palace is worth a visit – such stunning renovations, art and history of the legacy of Grimaldi family, the library alone is breathtaking. A visit the the famous Casino in Monte Carlo is a must – such splendour and opulence – some great people watching in the area and of course the famous sports cars are on show. Preparations were will underway in Monte Carlo for the upcoming Grand Prix – just amazing to see how they organize this, a great buzz in the area. If you like to shop – there are all the major brands in Monte Carlo – even a dedicated boutique for dogs – so cute.
Another thoroughly enjoyable element of this cruise as the entertainment – we went to see the ‘Cabaret’ show which as just stunning, it was like being at a West End Show the singers were just fantastic.
We dined in Aquamar, The Grand Dining Room, WAVES, THE Terrace Grille & Toscana – every dining experience was unique, with abundant menu choices and exemplary service. Their someliers onboard were fantastic with tremendous knowledge of wines and pairings.
Our welcome experience in Toscana was memorable with a showcase of the olive oils from around the world and balsamic vinegar to accompany our freshly made breads – truly fantastic. As we dined in Toscana we were departing LIvornio– our views of the Tuscany coastline at sunset were just stunning.
Oceania Cruises is 20 years old this year, The VISTA ship joins the family of 6 Sisters – INSIGNIA, RIVERIA, NAUTICA, SiRENA, MARINA and REGATTA.
