Luxury Cancun Holidays: Sun, Culture and Adventure in Mexico
8 – 15 January 2026
A holidays to Cancun truly offer something for every type of customer, and after spending a week experiencing the region first-hand, it’s easy to see why Cancun remains one of Mexico’s most sought-after destinations. From elegant beachfront resorts and exceptional dining to ancient ruins, cenotes and unforgettable excursions, Cancun delivers variety, quality and comfort in equal measure.
Here’s a look at our recent trip, flying Aer Lingus Business Class and staying in some of the finest resorts Cancun and the Riviera Maya have to offer.

Flying to Cancun in Style: Aer Lingus Business Class
Our luxury Cancun holiday began with Aer Lingus Business Class, which set the tone from the moment we boarded. Spacious seating, attentive service and a relaxed transatlantic journey made the flight exceptionally comfortable.

On arrival in Cancun, it’s worth noting that customs checks every bag individually. If travelling as a group, having one person queue at customs while another waits for luggage can save time. Also, no food is permitted to be brought into Mexico, so ensure bags are clear before departure.

Hilton Tulum: All-Inclusive Luxury on the Riviera Maya
We spent three nights at the Hilton Tulum, staying in an Ocean View Room in Casa 5 on the ground floor. This room was a real highlight of our luxury Cancun holiday experience, with direct access from the balcony walkway to the beach and the sound of the sea greeting us each morning.
What stood out most was the quality of the all-inclusive offering. Dining was excellent, with premium drinks, a wide selection of restaurants and bars, beautiful pools, daily activities and consistently friendly service. Shuttle buses run throughout the expansive resort, making it easy to get around. T
This is a vast, low-rise complex with a dozen buildings and 735 rooms (59 of which are suites) set in lush, tropical grounds. The premium (Enclave) rooms are closest to the main building, where many of the activities are located. At the far end is the very well-equipped children’s centre and splash pool area. The hotel has its own private beach as well as eight outdoor pools (including an adults-only pool).
This property is about 1 hour and 45 minutes from Cancún Airport, though it has a great beachside location (private beach) and is a few minutes (6km) from Xel-Há Amusement Park.
Travelling in January, the temperature was an idyllic 28 degrees Celsius and beautifully sunny.

Dining & Drinks on Cancun Holidays
This is an all-inclusive resort with 13 bars and eateries. This includes two buffet main dining options (one in the main building and a second near the end of the resort, where many of the children’s activities and the splash pool are located). There are five speciality restaurants which are also part of the all-inclusive offering (certain menu items may have a surcharge).
We dined in the main restaurant for breakfast with an extensive, high-quality, flavourful breakfast. Staff took coffee orders at the table, and there was plenty of choice to cater for all tastes. Beverages here are premium label, and cocktails are high-end, crafted by mixologists. And when in Mexico, try the Margaritas.
Wifi is fast (even fast enough for video calls) and when you’re not missing loved ones at home (or gleefully calling from glorious sunshine), there is plenty of activities to keep guests occupied and entertained – beach movie nights, silent discos, fire artists, live musicians, dj sessions and plenty of kids activities.
Conrad Tulum: Refined Luxury and Elegant Design
During our stay, we also visited the Conrad Tulum for a site inspection and dinner. This is a stunning five-star property, ideal for couples or travellers seeking a more refined and peaceful luxury Cancun holiday. The hotel operates on an accommodation or bed-and-breakfast basis and offers elegant design, a calm atmosphere and a true sense of understated luxury.

Culture and Nature: Tulum Ruins and Yalku Park
A highlight of the trip was a guided morning tour of the Tulum archaeological site with Aventuras Mayas. The ruins sit dramatically above the Caribbean Sea and offer a fascinating insight into Mayan history, paired with spectacular coastal views.
This excursion was combined with a visit to Yalku Park, where we enjoyed snorkelling in crystal-clear lagoon waters in a relaxed, natural setting. Experiences like this add incredible depth to luxury Cancun holidays, blending culture, nature and adventure.
The Travel Suite team can organise excursions and tours for you.

Xcaret Park: A Must-Do Experience in Cancun
Xcaret Park is an essential experience for anyone planning luxury Cancun holidays. The park offers an extraordinary mix of culture, wildlife, rivers and adventure, with excellent transport options available from Cancun.
The evening Mexico Spectacular Show is not to be missed. Guests can opt for a standard show ticket or elevate the experience with a premium option, including a four-course dinner with drinks. It’s an unforgettable way to experience Mexican history and culture.

Hilton Cancun: Relaxed Beachfront Luxury
We later transferred to the Hilton Cancun for a two-night stay, approximately 45 minutes away. This four-star all-inclusive resort has a more relaxed and laid-back atmosphere, making it ideal for unwinding after busy days exploring.
The hotel offers a lovely beach, a good variety of restaurants and comfortable ocean-view accommodation. It’s a great option for travellers who want an easy, stress-free element within their luxury Cancun holiday.

The Hilton Cancun is an all-inclusive beachfront property. On one side, the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea and on the other, a Mangrove forest. It is located just south of the main Hotel Zone and of the centre of downtown Cancún. It is about 20 minutes from the centre and 15 minutes from Cancún International Airport.
Rooms Including Family Suites for Up to S
“Here in Hilton Cancun, we have 715 rooms. We are a big property. We are an all-inclusive property, so room service is included 24/7, the mini bar is also included in the rate, and it is filled daily.”
There are many room types with views of either the sea or overlooking the mangroves (called the Sunset View). There are also swim-up rooms, suites and even a presidential bedroom with panoramic views stretching 2,100 sq. ft. Also, on offer are family suites with two separate bedrooms (a King bed in one and two queen beds in the other). They are connected with a spacious living area and a HDTV in each. These sleep up to 6 people and stretch to 860 sq. ft. Ideal for larger families.
I stayed in one of the larger Ocean View rooms, which was furnished impeccably, spacious and fitted with a minibar filled with drinks and snacks (part of the all-inclusive offering).
The hotel offers 12 unique dining venues, including five specialty restaurants. There is 24-hour room service and unlimited ice cream, churros, and sweets, plus grab-and-go treats from Azulinda Market & Café. Drinks are premium brands, and they serve proper cocktails. The speciality restaurants can be booked up to a week in advance, shares Luis. Equally, guests can walk in and see if there is a table available.

Cenotes and Adventure Experiences
One of the most enjoyable days of the trip was spent exploring cenotes with Extreme Adventuring. Swimming and diving in these natural freshwater pools was a truly memorable experience and showcased a completely different side of Cancun.
There are plenty of activity options available in the region, including ATV experiences, making it easy to tailor luxury Cancun holidays to include as much or as little adventure as desired.

Puerto Morelos: Authentic and Charming
On our return journey, we stopped in Puerto Morelos, a charming fishing village that offers a wonderful contrast to the larger resorts. With sea views, local shops and authentic restaurants and bars, it’s well worth a visit for those who want a taste of local life during their luxury Cancun holiday.

Waldorf Astoria Cancun: The Ultimate in Luxury
We visited the Waldorf Astoria Cancun for a resort tour and dinner, and it exceeded expectations in every way. This exceptional property offers true five-star-plus luxury on a bed-and-breakfast basis.
Every room features a private plunge pool, with swim-up rooms and an impressive selection of suites. Dinner was enjoyed outdoors beside the pool, and the food, service and atmosphere were outstanding — easily one of the finest dining experiences of the trip.

St. Patrick’s Day & A Special Bond Between Irish & Mexicans
While we were on this fabulous trip we met Irish-native Anthony Leeman, the Honorary Consul of Ireland in Cancún.
Anthony’s role includes promoting Irish culture here, such as Saint Patrick’s Day events. He shared that the direct service to Ireland made the regional and national news and highlighted the special bond between the Irish and Mexicans.
Interestingly, he explained that during the Mexican War of Independence in the mid-1800s, Irish immigrants fighting for the US Army in Mexico identified more with the Mexicans. They saw the US invasion as similar to the British colonisation of Ireland. Irish soldiers switched sides and formed the Saint Patrick’s Battalion. Though many were branded as deserters and executed by the US for treason, they became folk heroes and are honoured in Mexico with monuments, parades, and annual commemorations on St. Patrick’s Day, recognising their sacrifice for Mexico.
