Aileen’s Celebrity Cruise Experience to the Norwegian Fjords

If you are looking for unforgettable memories, then a trip on a cruise can be a great experience and should be at the top of your wish list. Our client Aileen is so happy to share her experience onboard the Celebrity Silhouette cruise at The Travel Suite.

Welcome onboard!

Anyway, I wanted to thank you firstly (I have already thanked my wonderful friend Mary) for the most wonderful holiday imaginable and I have sung its praises to all and sundry both while away and since we got back.

I truly think (as does Matt) that the Norwegian fjords are beyond spectacular and Olden might be the most scenic place we have ever had the privilege of seeing.

It was stunning as were all four stops on the wonderful Celebrity Silhouette cruise to Norway. But it was Olden that stole our hearts! We did a fast rib ride around the fjord and then took the ski lift to the viewing area amongst the snow-capped mountains encasing the stunning fjord. It was breathtaking and we walked even further up the trail to the top of one of those peaks where we marvelled at the vista.

Bergen was our first stop and also stunningly picturesque with its colourful and authentic buildings and the fantastic fish market with its offerings of whale and reindeer and lobster and crab everywhere. Also, a wonderful cable car ride to get a wonderful look at the fjord and stunning surroundings.

There were trolls aplenty on the Path of the Trolls which we took from the port town of Alesund which itself was stunning and filled to the brim with Art Nouveau architecture. We saw iced waterfalls and art-filled churches as we travelled the hair-raising steep Troll Road and saw Trollveggen, the highest vertical rock face in Europe.

Our last activity day was also wonderful with an 8km hike up and down Pulpit Rock just outside Stavanger, the gateway to the fjords. It took four and a half hours and sore calves but boy was it worth it!

And I can’t leave out the cruise ship Lorraine. It was just the icing on the cake with a gorgeous roomy en-suite cabin with a verandah. So comfortable!

Food Experience

The food and restaurants were spectacularly good and we visited Murano, Qsine, the Tuscan Grille and the Lawn Grille. All were fab as was the Oceanview Cafe and all the wonderful bars and cafes we visited.

Self-love

I also indulged in the wonderful Spa and beauty and hair salons and luxuriated in the best pedicure I have ever had while looking into the gorgeous town of Aalesund. Similarly, I had a beautiful blow dry while marvelling at Stavanger.

We also availed of the well-equipped gym for a good few days.
